A major challenge - The complex process of attaching fittings to a composite hose

The challenge of specialized materials in modern plant systems: selecting high-quality industrial hoses plays a crucial role. However, when transitioning to composite hoses, engineers and fabricators often face a specific issue: inserting end fittings into the hose is not as straightforward as with standard hydraulic hoses. The unique multi-layered structure of these synthetic materials makes this type of hose extremely demanding in terms of fabrication techniques.

If standard crimping methods are applied, the result is usually failure right at the initial inspection stage: the hose will leak or lose pressure during testing. This is particularly dangerous if it involves industrial chemical composite hoses, as it directly threatens workplace safety, causes material loss, and can halt the plant’s entire production line.

Practical experience from a large order

Recently, our technical staff directly resolved this challenge when receiving a new order. The project required the assembly of a 2.1/2’’ composite hose with two end fittings. Unlike standard series, this composite hose is constructed from multiple layers of fabric and thermoplastic PP films spirally wrapped together, held securely by internal and external wire helices.

Initially, when inserting the fittings using standard procedure and conducting tests, the technicians noticed a pressure drop. Subsequently, our technicians carefully studied in-depth instructional videos from the original manufacturer. By adjusting operational techniques and optimizing the way fittings are inserted into this specialized material, the difficult problem was completely solved, ensuring an absolutely leak-proof seal for the composite oil hose.
